Getting Involved

There are several ways to take part in decisions about East Hampton Town Airport. JPXWatch does not advocate for any outcome regarding the future of the airport. This page is a guide to where you can find the right public body for your location.

The airport is a Town facility. East Hampton Town Airport (KJPX) is owned and operated by the Town of East Hampton. It is not within East Hampton Village, which has no jurisdiction over airport operations.

Town Board. Town Board meetings and work sessions are open to the public and are held both in person and virtually. The public can take part by attending at Town Hall or by using the Town’s public comment number. Agendas, minutes, and meeting materials are posted before and after meetings, and meetings are carried live and archived by LTV.

Citizens Advisory Committees. The Town has five Citizens Advisory Committees, each covering a defined area of the Town. They meet publicly and post agendas and minutes.

Anyone may attend a CAC meeting regardless of where they live, and comments are generally taken informally. Membership is what requires residence in the area a committee covers. East Hampton Village lies within the Town of East Hampton. For current openings, contact the Town.

The airport itself. The Town’s airport department page carries operating information, airport and noise-abatement contacts, operating procedures, airport documents, and the Town’s flight-tracking portal.

Reporting a flight. The Town’s official aircraft noise complaint system is operated for the Town by PlaneNoise. There are four ways to file:

These web addresses use KHTO, the airport’s former code. It is the same airport — the complaint form itself lists it as East Hampton (JPX).

Organizations. JPXWatch links only to government bodies, whose authority, membership, and meeting records are matters of public record. Private organizations are active on several sides of the airport question; JPXWatch does not list them.

JPXWatch is an independent project. It is not affiliated with the Town of East Hampton, any citizens advisory committee, any village government, or any organization.

Corrections. If anything on this page is out of date or inaccurate, let us know through the feedback form. Corrections are recorded on the Corrections page.

To report a specific aircraft or noise event, use the Town of East Hampton’s complaint system above. JPXWatch does not receive, forward, or act on noise complaints.
